A professional-grade tracing solution featuring digital and analog signaling for identifying Ethernet, telco, and low-voltage wiring in noisy environments.

Professional Tracing Performance

The Klein Tools Tone & Probe Kit is engineered for the modern UK technician who needs to navigate complex wiring looms. Unlike standard analog tracers that can be easily confused by background noise, this kit features a powerful 60Hz filter. This allows you to trace cables with pinpoint accuracy even when they are running alongside live mains power lines, a common challenge in British commercial installations.

Digital vs. Analog Versatility

Equipped with both digital and analog signaling, this kit is as comfortable on a high-speed data network as it is on a traditional telephone line. The digital mode provides a clean, distinct signal that won't disappear in the 'crosstalk' of a busy server room, while the analog mode offers the raw power needed to find wires buried deep within stud walls or floor voids. This dual-mode capability makes it a superior choice compared to the Fluke Intellitone Pro 200 or Greenlee 801k.

Built for the Job Site

Klein Tools is synonymous with durability, and this kit is no exception. With an integrated RJ45 port and heavy-duty alligator clips, you can connect to almost any low-voltage system immediately. The probe features a replaceable non-conductive tip to prevent accidental shorts, and the high-volume speaker ensures you can hear the tone clearly in noisy plant rooms or construction sites.

Operating Instructions

Operational Guide

  1. Insert the 9V batteries into both the tone generator and the probe.
  2. Connect the tone generator to the cable under test using the RJ45 port or alligator clips.
  3. Select 'Digital' mode for active network cables or 'Analog' for standard copper wire runs.
  4. Turn on the probe and adjust the volume dial.
  5. Trace the length of the cable or scan the punch-down block; the signal will reach peak volume when the probe is directly over the correct wire.
  6. Use the 60Hz filter button if you experience buzzing from nearby mains power.

Ingredients & Materials

High-impact ABS plastic housing, non-conductive polymer probe tip, copper-clad steel internal components, reinforced silicone connector leads.

Safety Information

Do not use on live AC circuits exceeding 60V DC. Always verify that power is disconnected before using alligator clips on bare copper. Store in a dry environment to protect internal circuitry.

Field Reports from UK Pros

Verified Pro

Essential bit of kit for my data install business. The digital mode is a lifesaver in busy racks where analog signals just bleed everywhere.

Gareth Evans, Cardiff

Switched from a Fluke to this Klein set. The build quality feels much more 'trade'. It's survived a few drops onto concrete without a mark.

Simon Richards, Birmingham

Verified Pro

Great signal strength. The only minor gripe is the probe tip is plastic (for safety), so you have to be careful not to snap it in tight gaps.

Alistair Cook, Glasgow

Verified Pro

The 60Hz filter is brilliant. I was tracing telco lines next to a main riser and this was the only probe that could find the signal through the hum.

Priya Sharma, London

Verified Pro

Used many cable toners over the years, but this is the most reliable. The RJ45 port makes it so much faster to plug in and go.

Mark Thompson, Leeds

Verified Pro

Excellent tool, though I wish the carry case was a bit larger to fit my extra patch leads.

David Lloyd, Bristol

Verified Pro

Top quality. If you're doing professional network installs in the UK, don't bother with the cheap unbranded stuff. This pays for itself in time saved.
